      okley dokely. here goes:

and the fat stance on the back (220's baby...)

Turns out I will need a few things before I run these rims.
      1) Spacers, approx 20-25mm, with a centrebore adapter/shim, cause the gemini centre bore is bigger than the golfs. I'll have to get proper bolt in spacers made i think, which could be costly. I can't put the front wheels on, cause the rims have no chance of clearing my GTi calipers. (which is why i need spacers.) I"m geussing that the offset is around 30, but I'll have to calculate that later on.
      2) new tyres, although I'm sure the formula ford "slicks", basically will be an absolute riot, they are knacked (45 laps of the island) and not actually road legal. but I'll still give em a whirl before I get rid of em. Ill put some thing like 185 45 13 on them later on.
      3) Paint and polish. just so they look trick.
      4) coilovers (or chopped springs) THere is no way 13's look cool, unless they are on a slammed golf.

Other than that, they look pretty damn Good i reckon, once I do No. 3), they should look pretty trick. of course none of this will go forward if the spacers cost an arm and a leg. Does anyone think they would be able to turn something suitable up??

and last but not least, I painted the other mylar the other day, and Now I need opinions!!!
which looks best the silver/chrome, or the black mylar??

      Comparo pic:

If you don't want the chrome strips, i would suggest getting new rubbers. You can buy them without the inserts for the chrome.

Those rims look sweet, going to grab a couple of them off my mate and wack them on mine, mine a 14's though

Dont cut your springs just go to a good spring works and get 'em reset (lowered) costs bugger all and is legal Way better than chopping

If the Gemini wheels have a bigger center locator, it shouldn't be that hard to do. If you give me the dimensions i can knock some up for you if i've got the material.. Which i should be able to get hold of. I could turn them out of aluminium plate.

Give me some dimensions and i'll see what i can do. I won't do them for free but i should be able to knock them up for a good price, because i should be able to get the material from work. Just let me know if you want them made..

              Looking good, Jarred

I’d get rid of the chrome inserts and run nice clean black rubbers! Leave them with the slit for the inserts and like Static said, you can get some new rubbers down the track You can still achieve the old skool chrome look with the bumpers, mirrors, side strips and grille surrounds

here we go with a small update:

Got a new windscreen put in just before:

also put my mk 3 steels on yesterday, and I repainted the mirrors and popped them back on.

I have half of the mylars in still, cause I was undecided on wheather to run them or not. I repainted them rattle can chrome, a more propper chrome, and they came out alright, except I smudged them a bit... oops.

I think my rear end needs to be lowered a bit more tho.. and I need some camber on the front wheels.

but it's all coming together, just need to finish my rear seat (prolly should have finished that a while back) and get my exhaust made, and then I'll go for roadie!! hopefully this will all happen this week coming

                ahhh... my baby..

that's the orig mylar. i just repainted them, they're smudged and cracked, so I may ditch them, but I'm unsure if the seal will be as strong still?? don't want my windscreen falling out after all....

oh yea, windscreen fitted and everything, $220, jims windscreens. I've got the guys number if any melbournites what a new windscreen, I'm pretty sure he's the cheapest you'll get

                    • So i decided to lower it a bit more, see:

but then I wasn't sure it was low enough, so I went at it again:

Gee chopped springs are great, you can get so low with them!

but seriously. I didn't chop any springs, (it was a joke...) thanks to golf houso for these p/chops, which one do we reckon looks best??

                      • The last one of course. That looks like porn!

Ps. I spotted the photo chop - look at the rear arch, you can see where it has been cropped.

Jarred acheiving that stance would be quite easy when having your springs reset... As iv said b4 its legal and cheap...

Looking cool and it sure is exciting that its nearly there... R u going CH reg or full reg?

                          How is the engine going

Cant wait to see it going

                          Cheers James

                            spoil sport! hahaha

I am considering getting reset so they are about an inch lower at the back an a half inch at the front, but I'm not going to worry about that, I can do that later on down the track, i just want to get it on the road!

engine is okay. it struggles a bit with the cold starts, due to the lack of any choke setup, but with a good tune, it should be acceptable. I've nearly finished a service on it, just have to do the plugs, and timing (actually I don't know how to do the timing, dad has the strobe, so I geuss I'll have to look in the manual) once i get the exhaust, I'll give it a good tuning we'll see.. but it should be alright, for now at least but it does sound wicked past 4k rpm with no exhaust!!! oh the love!

I'll be going for full reg, it'll be my daily driver hopefully, well providing nothing else (major) goes wrong with it really, and I sure am looking forward to a drive. I should have it done by middle of feb, reg'd and everything, actually by my birthday hopefully , and you'll get to see it at carls, which I'm should be in attendance for. um yea. did I miss anything?
